You've just landed in Grenada. The plane doors open and warm Caribbean air rushes in, carrying that unmistakable tropical scent of salt and green. Welcome to the Spice Isle. Now, how do you get to your accommodation?

The good news is that Maurice Bishop International Airport is refreshingly small and easy to navigate. You'll clear immigration, grab your bags, and walk outside in about twenty minutes—no endless terminal walks or confusing signage. Step through the doors and you'll find yourself in the Caribbean sunshine, ready to start your vacation.

Taking a Taxi

Taxis line up right outside the arrivals hall, and the drivers are some of the friendliest you'll meet anywhere. Grenada uses fixed taxi rates rather than meters, which means no surprises—the fare to Grand Anse is the same whether you're a first-time visitor or a returning local.

Expect to pay around $15-20 USD to the Grand Anse area, roughly the same to Lower Woburn where Corten Villa is located, and $20-25 to St. George's. Drivers accept both US dollars and Eastern Caribbean dollars, and most are happy to chat about the island, point out landmarks, and offer restaurant recommendations along the way.

A quick tip: confirm your fare before you get in, not because drivers are dishonest, but because it avoids any confusion later. And if you find a driver you like, ask for their number—having a reliable contact for the rest of your trip is invaluable.

We've worked with several excellent drivers over the years. Curt Monroe (+1 473-420-0463) comes highly recommended by our guests, and Cocoa Isle Tours (+1 473-422-6069) offers both transfers and island tours.

Renting a Car

If you want the freedom to explore Grenada at your own pace—and there's plenty worth exploring—a rental car is the way to go. Several companies operate from the airport or offer pickup, and rates start around $35-40 per day.

A few things to know: Grenada drives on the left, British-style, which takes some adjustment if you're coming from the Americas. The roads are hilly and winding, often with blind corners and the occasional goat wandering across. An SUV or higher-clearance vehicle handles the terrain better than a sedan, especially if you plan to visit waterfalls or venture into the countryside.

You'll need a local driving permit, which costs $12 and the rental company will arrange for you. Gas stations are plentiful but many close by 7pm, so fill up during the day if you're planning evening adventures.

J&B Auto Rentals operates right at the airport with a solid reputation. Y&R Car Rental has a modern fleet, and A1 Auto Rental has been serving visitors for over twenty years.

The Haylup App

Think of it as Grenada's Uber. Download the Haylup app before you arrive and you can request rides with your credit card—no cash needed, no negotiating fares. It's particularly useful if you don't want to rent a car but still want flexibility for dinner reservations or spontaneous beach trips.

Getting to Corten Villa

From the airport to Corten Villa is just fifteen minutes. The drive takes you along the scenic coastal road, past Grand Anse Beach and through the charming neighborhood of Lower Woburn. We're happy to arrange a trusted driver to meet you at arrivals—just let us know your flight details and we'll take care of the rest.

Grenada is a small island, and no destination is more than an hour away. Whether you choose a taxi, rental car, or the Haylup app, you'll find getting around straightforward and stress-free. The hardest part of transportation in Grenada is remembering to drive on the left.
